Shazam! is something of a departure for the DC film universe in that it's a much more fresh story. This is fitting since the hero is ultimately a 14-year-old boy. However, just because our hero is a kid doesn't target that he won't be faced taking into consideration some grown-up problems. In the feat of Shazam! that suffering will come in the form of Mark strong as Doctor Silvana. I had a inadvertent to interview Mark strong on the set of Shazam! last year and he feels that because the film has therefore much humor in it, it's that much more important for his villain to be terrifying. According to Strong...
I don't think it could ever be too dark. I think especially the more fresh the rest of the film is, and this one is. I target there's some great comedy to be had taking into consideration that idea that a 14-year-old boy in a grown happening man's body doesn't really understand or is clever to cope taking into consideration his powers. I had this aeration taking into consideration [director] David [F. Sandberg] and Peter [Safran] the producer very to come on and said I think Sivana should be taking into consideration heat seeking ballistic evil. The more frightening you create him, the more you setting that the kids are in jeopardy, and therefore the more that morality term of tally of good and evil plays out satisfacually. I think if he ever steps put up to and takes his foot off the gas of inborn dark.. it doesn't benefits the target of the story, which is he needs to be a terrifying nemesis.
In order to tally out the humor that comes taking into consideration Shazams premise, Mark Strong's job is to be a force of true, dark evil in the story. If he's not, after that there's no genuine wisdom of jeopardy for the heroes of Billy Batson and his pal Freddy. In short, Shazam! is nevertheless going to setting taking into consideration a superhero movie, as the hero will be going neighboring a really risky opponent.
We teacher a great concurrence approximately who Silvana will be in the further Shazam! film while on the set. while he's nevertheless really a bad guy, his motives will likely be welcoming to the audience, even if his deeds won't be condoned.
You can get the most recent see at Mark Strong's setting in the newest trailer. Check it out below.
A setting taking into consideration Doctor Silvana would be risky to an adult hero, but to one who is technically a teenager, even while he looks taking into consideration Zachary Levi, Silvana will likely be even scarier. Billy Batson will compulsion to battle Silvana taking into consideration powers he doesn't even very understand, stacking the deck neighboring him even more.
Properly combining comedy taking into consideration moments of suspense or feat that are intended to setting really harrowing can be a delicate balance. Your villain can come across as too hilarious and therefore not setting taking into consideration a true threat, and create no mistake, while Mark strong has played some vicious characters in his today, he's perfectly adept of bringing humor to a role taking into consideration necessary. However, in this case, it looks taking into consideration Shazam! plans to feat to Strong's, well, strength, and create Doctor Silvana the sort of villain who could seem risky to any of DC's heroes.
We'll see the unconditional outcome taking into consideration Shazam! arrives this spring.
