Ben Affleck has ridden some rocky blockbuster waves in recent years, but one film that was really an undeniable finishing arrived in the fall of 2016. Gavin O'Connor's The Accountant is one of the rare recent original be active titles to actually be active really without difficulty at the box office, making $155.1 million globally upon a $44 million budget. The be active was significant passable to rudely start some sequel chatter, and even though we haven't heard much approximately the project in a minute, it's apparently a project that Affleck is nevertheless avid in pursuing.
It was last reported that The Accountant 2 was in the works taking into consideration Gavin O'Connor returning to adopt and bank account Dubuque (the original's screenwriter) taking care of the script, but that was in the summer of 2017. approximately two year's worth of silence is quite a lot, but thankfully Ben Affleck has now provided us an update, via Collider - explaining that the film is very one that he wants to pursue:
Yeah, I wish so. I would love to. Weve talked approximately kicking some ideas around, this last movie we just did. We talked to the studio and they seemed interested, and they nice of brought it happening so, were looking to do that. I think it would be fun. I love Gavin, I love the movie I just did taking into consideration him. I had a good experience and I love the air in The Accountant. Id very be gain access to to it.
The project that Ben Affleck is referring to is the film Torrance, which completed filming last year. A very vary nice of bank account and genre than The Accountant, the movie is a sports performing that follows a former star basketball artist who tries to get his energy back together by becoming the coach of the team at his outmoded tall school. The film is produced by Warner Bros. - the thesame studio astern Affleck and O'Connor's previous collaboration - and even though a freedom date has not nevertheless been announced, one can probably forecast that we'll be seeing it arrive out some era in the fall.
As for The Accountant 2, it's actually a pretty looking for excitement prospect, and right now could be a perfect project for Ben Affleck. Christian Wolff is a legitimately engaging air - a public accountant taking into consideration high-functioning autism who moonlights as an assassin - and the first movie really makes for a frosty extraction story. There are hundreds of stories that could be told taking into consideration him going forward, and it could become a fun franchise role for the star.
For what it's worth, we might already have an inkling of a scheme for the proposed sequel, as Gavin O'Connor talked out some ideas taking into consideration me taking into consideration I interviewed him approximately The Accountant back in 2016. Discussing potential bank account ideas, he put adopt a really dark dispensation for the world in which Christian Wolff lives, saying,
In the second one, if we're ever fortunate to do it, I save having this idea of a Catcher in the Rye nice of thing. He's surrounded by children, dealing taking into consideration slavery and these children that are sex slaves and things taking into consideration that... If there's a showing off to unity taking into consideration that topic business and him saving children, that's something I'd be really avid in doing.
For now, though, The Accountant 2 merely exists in theory. Of course, if we get any more details approximately it you'll be certain to locate them here upon CinemaBlend.
Considering the buzz around 2016's Deadpool solo adventure, it's not hard to imagine that the studio bigwigs would want Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool at the helm of an X-Force movie, since the character's occasionally part of the team and all. Wolverine is too, but it looks like Hugh Jackman's days as the character are winding down.
