When Jason Momoa's Arthur Curry returns to Atlantis forward-looking this year in Aquaman, he'll be challenged by two opponents: his half-brother Orm, enlarged known as Ocean Master, and David Kane (his last broadcast is Hyde in the comics), also called Black Manta. Of those two, Black Manta is enormously more visually distinct, and ever back it was announced the villain would appear in Aquaman, fans have been waiting to see how his see would be translated for the big screen. Well, we finally have our first see at the environment in the upcoming movie, and definite enough, he's kept his trademark, wide-eyed helmet that he's worn for decades in the comics.
It looks past we'll have to wait a little longer to see a fully-suited Black Manta in Aquaman, but in the above picture, we see The Greatest Showman star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as David Kane studying his Black Manta helmet in what looks past a workshop. Which, perfect Black Manta's comic photograph album history, is presumably located on a ship or submarine. all now and later we get a comic photograph album movie costume that looks past it was ripped straight from the printed page, and this Black Manta helmet enormously fits that bill. And this is just the prototype! Just imagine how the finalized costume is going to look.
But even past this first peek at Black Manta, and past six months to go until Aquaman's release, director James Wan is staying mum on specific details roughly Black Manta. Here's the simple savings account he gave for the villain to EW:
He's ration mercenary but full-time pirate who in his case will see past some insane alien from outer space.
James Wan furthermore clarified that even if Black Manta does perform an important role in Aquaman, he's not the main antagonist. That tribute belongs to Patrick Wilson's Orm, past the main savings account focused on Orm's adversarial attachment past Arthur Curry, his half-brother. Nevertheless, amid inborn a ruthless pirate and wearing a case that allows him to shoot plasma beams out of his eyes, Black Manta is not to be underestimated. If he's whatever past his comic photograph album counterpart, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II's Black Manta could come dangerously near to killing Aquaman. Of course, we know that the hero will ultimately emerge victorious, but back Black Manta has facial scars in the comics, I wouldn't be amazed if this iteration of the baddie furthermore walked past a same battle wound.
Aquaman dives into theaters on December 21, even if fans in the joined Kingdom will get to watch it a week earlier. save checking put up to past CinemaBlend for more updates about the underwater blockbuster, and don't forget to see through our DC movies lead to learn what additional DC extended Universe projects are on the way.

Howard The Duck's Endgame cameo might seem like a bit of fan service, but it makes sense within the canon of the MCU. The last we saw Howard, he had a hot date on Contraxia in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. It stands to reason that he might be in that party spot when the dusted characters were revived, and hopped in a portal that the

In a DCEU movie that is going to play with a different setting than anything that we have seen before, it behooves DC to take advantage of the characters who don't age like normal humans. The Amazons already fulfill that role, but if the folks behind Wonder Woman 2 need a similarly immortal villain, then they should look at Vandal Savage.
