Jason Momoa was once best known for his infamous role as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones, but since his Aquaman role came along, the actor has quickly become a household name. In recent weeks, Denis Villenueve has been casting huge stars left and right for his Dune movie, and Momoa is now the latest actor to link the sci-fi novel adaptation.
After recently lending his voice to LEGO Aquaman in The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, Jason Momoa is now in negotiations to star in Dune as Duncan Idaho, according to Deadline. He will link an already jam-packed cast including Timothe Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Dave Bautista, Stellan Starsgard, Charlotte Rampling, Javier Bardem and Josh Brolin. (Whew, thats once half of Hollywood!)
Following Denis Villenueve's recent endowment once sci-fi dramas coming on and Blade Runner 2049, the director is turning to Frank Herberts best-selling novel, since adapted for screen in 1984 by Twin Peaks David Lynch. The bill follows a teenage man named Paul Atreides (Timothe Chalamet) who must a lead a rebellion to restructure his familys control of the desert planet Arrakis adjoining an evil galactic emperor who assassinates his daddy (Oscar Isaac).
Jason Momoas character is a competent swordsman who is loyal to Paul Atreides noble cause and is the forlorn character to be featured in every six Dune novels. The upcoming Dune movie will reportedly forlorn cover half of the first book, and Denis Villenueve has shown assimilation in making at least two Dune films, for that reason Momoa could potentially have option franchise upon his hands.
The source material is one of the most dense and profound sci-fi series, for that reason spreading out the books in complex movies is a intellectual move. 1984s Dune greatly struggled once this, as it was an overall mess and was met once negative valuable reception and box office failure.
Denis Villenueve has compared his Dune vision as "Star Wars for adults." The novels utterly examine political, religious and man vs. natural world themes. Villenueve will be directing Dune and wrote the script once A Star is Born co-writer Eric Roth and Doctor strange co-writer Jon Spaihts.
Jason Momoa is just coming off the monumental endowment of Aquaman, which is customary to near out the box office once an estimated $1.15 billion in worldwide earnings. This would put Aquaman at the 20th highest-grossing movie of every grow old in between Captain America: Civil suit and Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
Its later no bewilderment that plans for Aquaman 2 are already moving forward, as one Aquaman writer, David Leslie-McGoldrick, has recently signed upon to start penning the sequel for Warner Bros. The blockbuster will soon create its way to Blu-ray and Digital upon March 26.
