Last year, Blumhouse Productions took the Halloween franchise, which, considering many icons of the horror genre, had long back fallen from grace, and returned it to prominence. The Halloween reboot-quel was a colossal achievement and there is a natural inclination to look further iconic horror franchises that have fallen upon difficult epoch acquire the thesame treatment. Halloween producer Ryan Turek would especially considering to acquire his hands upon Friday the 13th to remake it, as he explained:
Without question, at the top of my list would be Friday the 13th. Friday the 13th would be the franchise that I would love to decree upon next. Jason Blum shares that thesame passion. That is something that is unfortunately complicated. I mean, there's all sorts of stuff going upon not [just] considering the video game, but valid stuff. But, if it came our way, I objective I would be upon cloud nine. It would be absolutely incredible to do. I quality a little bit smoother, because, I think there are abandoned a few promises you'd habit to make considering it comes to Friday the 13th. That's, you know, you gotta deliver upon a summer camp. You gotta deliver upon counselors. You gotta deliver upon Jason Voorhees.
After committed wonders considering Michael Myers, Ryan Turek would next considering to assist out Jason Voorhees and the Friday the 13th franchise, which has been dormant back the last try at a reboot in 2009. As Ryan Turek mentioned to Comicbook.com, he is not alone in this desire. Blumhouse chief Jason Blum has along with expressed a desire to bring the machete wielding killer assist to theater screens (among further horror classics).
Ryan Turek along with seems to view Friday the 13th as a bit less complicated to remake than Halloween, and that as long as you deliver upon the elements that fans expect, you're fine to go. He mentioned the summer camp, correspondingly apparently no killing in ventilate in his ideal remake, as capably as the counselors and of course Jason himself.
It's uncertain whether Ryan Turek and Jason Blum would envision a further Friday the 13th movie as a pure remake or something akin to what they did considering Halloween, which was technically a sequel to the indigenous 1978 Halloween and correspondingly rebooted the subsequent films out of the canonical continuity. What is certain is that Ryan Turek seems on fire to just discuss the possibility of tackling the property, as he is conveniently a fan.
Unfortunately, as he noted, wanting to remake Friday the 13th and subconscious accomplished to pull off correspondingly are two swing things. He mentioned the video game and the valid issues that have been preventing the franchise from returning for more hockey-masked horror. Although, last we heard, the valid feat had been contracted and there were talks approximately a Friday the 13th reboot from Vertigo Entertainment and LeBron James' SpringHill Entertainment.
Anecdotally, Friday the 13th doesn't seem to be viewed considering quite the thesame exaltation as Halloween. It seems considering Friday the 13th features an iconic quality but the movie itself isn't a pillar of the genre, whereas the indigenous Halloween is a everlasting and spawned a horror icon. A Halloween-style refresh or remake could offer Friday the 13th an opportunity to make something good from such a recognizable horror villain.
And considering correspondingly many suitors itching for a chance to assist Jason stalk his prey considering anew and grant upon the table in this ongoing warm epoch for the horror genre, you have to think that Friday the 13th will be assist upon theater screens sooner rather than later.
