Albus Dumbledore was completely a good wizard who held lots of change in the magical community and was an necessary figure in Harry Potter's life. I'm definite if you were to question any Hogwarts students very nearly him, they would tell that he is nice and whimsical. But that doesn't regulate the fact that he is wretched at making decisions. Throughout the Harry Potter series, Dumbledore makes bad substitute after bad choice, both back Harry enters the picture and subsequently long after. I adore Dumbledore, but he has a massive hardship gone his judgment.
Dumbledore is making his huge return to the series in wonderful Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald -- this time as a younger man played by Jude action -- and gone once more recruiting others to fight his battles for him. gone that in mind, it's time to look urge on at some of the more questionable events of this then again awesome wizard. Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) augmented watch his back, because these are the worst decisions that Dumbledore has ever made, ranked in no particular order.
Leaving Harry gone An Abusive FamilyLet's begin right at the initiation of the series, shall we? After his parents are murdered, baby Harry Potter is left gone his single-handedly bustling family, the Dursleys. The Durselys are muggles, despise whatever very nearly magic, and treat this orphan guy gone dirt, making him famously living under the stairs. Perhaps not physically abusive but completely emotionally abusive, and it was Dumbledore who fixed to depart him there! Rather than depart him gone a magical utility family that could tutor Harry very nearly his origin and powers, Dumbledore opted to depart him gone these suffocating turds because... he wanted Harry to have humility? I'm definite Harry would have preferred keeping his ego in check on top of a hot bed.
He Sent kids To A Nightmare forest For DetentionHogwarts is a magical area gone lots of wacky, whimsical studious traditions gone playing flying broom sports games. gone any school, it has to discipline its students occasionally, but unlike a regular school, which just gives detention, Hogwarts sends kids into a dark forest riddled gone risky monsters. Hogwarts is right adjacent to the forbidden Forest, which houses wealth of peaceful creatures gone unicorns and a bunch of risky child-eating ones. First-year students who barely know how to make a feather float are sent there in the dead of night gone a groundskeeper who legally can't use illusion to guard them. Honestly, it's a good agitation tactic, but if your students can acquire eaten by spiders, it's probably not worth it. As the headmaster, Dumbledore can shut this alongside anytime. He just doesn't.
He Rarely Closes The studious During risky SituationsTeaching students illusion is going to come gone definite danger, but Hogwarts has hard times literally built into its walls. It's the hiding area of the Sorcerer's Stone, a basilisk lives in the plumbing, soul-sucking Dementors hung out there for a while, and it housed a tournament where students could die. Essentially, the majority of Harry Potter's studious years could have been canceled if Dumbledore wanted, but Hogwarts administration is weirdly more anxious very nearly losing a year of education than students getting hurt. Imagine if an alligator was lost at your studious for a week, but your principal was like, "Let's wait until after midterms and look how this plays out." The basilisk petrified a handful of students, but Dumbledore didn't go to the Chamber of Secrets himself to believe care of the problem.
Letting Snape Be direct To KidsSeverus Snape was a complicated guy who had a lot of baggage that he never adequately worked out. while the decision to hire Snape as a studious at Hogwarts is spotty, it wasn't without utility as Snape did supply info Dumbledore needed. But that doesn't direct Dumbledore had to allow Snape be a dick to his students! Snape talked alongside to his students and straight stirring insulted them. If Snape taught at a muggle school, he'd be fired for any of the stuff he says to Harry. Dumbledore needed Snape for their plan, but Dumbledore could have told him to chill out. After all, Harry thought Snape was blamed for a bunch of evil schemes because he was such a jerk to him.
He Didn't Pay satisfactory Attention To VoldemortHindsight is 20/20, and there's probably no habit that anyone could have foreseen Tom Riddle becoming the most risky dark wizard who ever lived, but Dumbledore knew that this kid was untrustworthy right out of the gate. Tom Riddle was a troubled kid who needed help, and while Dumbledore did what he could, there were a lot of clues that Tom was bad news. There was a major red flag gone Tom revealed to Dumbledore -- in their first conversation -- that he can chat to snakes, which typically is not a good sign in the Harry Potter world. Then, Tom opens the Chamber of Secrets, and he's essentially suspicious very nearly it and frames Hagrid for it. He next tries to learn very nearly immortality from Hogwarts' staff. Tom was action every this under the radar, but Dumbledore was right there gone every of this was happening.
He Hired A studious gone Voldemort upon The urge on Of His HeadI would adore to listen the balance for this. Professor Quirrell has Voldemort, the Wizarding World's balance of Hitler, literally upon the urge on of his head, and no one realized this because he was wearing a hat? Dumbledore usually knows a lot very nearly what's going on, but this feels gone a significant oversight. True, Quirrell was an unassuming man, but this guy was sneaking out and sucking unicorn blood at night! Even while the defense against the Dark Arts position is cursed, Hogwarts needs a more rigorous interview process.
He Left Riddles then again of InstructionsOver the course of the series, it becomes increasingly definite that Dumbledore knows a lot more very nearly what's going on, possessing knowledge of the prophecy and the Horcruxes, to publicize single-handedly two major details. Even after his death, Dumbledore was yet finding ways to inconvenience Harry Potter by withholding information. In his will, Dumbledore leaves Harry, Ron, and Hermione each one item that will action a pivotal ration in their quest to find the Horcruxes. The hardship while is that he doesn't tell them what these items are for or how they work, desertion them to figure it out for themselves. I understand that if Dumbledore just told everyone everything, subsequently that would be tiresome to watch, but he has to toss someone a bone.
Letting Harry Compete In The Triwizard TournamentIn Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Hogwarts is host to the Triwizard Tournament, which is already untrustworthy satisfactory but single-handedly wizards who have come of age are allowed to compete. The hardship is, Harry Potter ends stirring getting drafted into the tournament in an enhance plan by Voldemort to teleport Harry to his resurrection. The collection event reeks of foul play, something Dumbledore is au fait of, but he ultimately relents to allow Harry compete to snuff out the enemy's plan. action what the bad guy wants is always a good plan. This one is not completely upon Dumbledore, as there's a magical bylaw that forces Harry to compete, but it feels gone they could have gotten Harry out of it if they tried. The collection event ended gone one dead student and one living Voldemort, fittingly it wasn't a good strategy.
