Yesterday we got our first approved see at Joaquin Phoenix in setting for Todd Phillip's upcoming standalone Joker film. Because Joker is an pedigree story, we will see the character's transformation from a (presumably) regular person into the Clown Prince of Crime. This first image shows the man past that transformation, a man named Arthur Fleck. upon its face, that read out doesn't aspiration much, but filmmaker and noted Batman fan, Kevin Smith has spotted a hilarious membership amongst Joaquin Phoenix's Joker and the actor who plays the Joker's nemesis in the DCEU, Ben Affleck. take a look:

That's lovely funny. It's a propos too coincidental. What is his middle name, 'Martha most likely Joker writer-director Todd Phillips and screenwriter Scott Silver are just trolling everyone, using the read out of Joaquin Phoenix's failed comedian to direct some meta-humor referencing the character's greatest enemy in WB's separate DCEU films. Although, if Batman and the Joker truly are two sides of the same coin, it would make wisdom that we see them reflected in each new in oscillate ways, even if this film takes area in a separate universe. Of course, this is every probably just coincidence and the read out Arthur Fleck was agreed for new reasons that have more to complete past the setting Joaquin Phoenix is playing past he sheds that moniker and becomes the Joker. But this coincidence will bring a deluge of 'Sad Affleck' memes nonetheless.

With Joker brute divorced from the DCEU, this film will presumably have a lot of release to complete things differently and put a spin upon the setting we haven't seen before, as without difficulty as inserting tiny contacts and Easter eggs past this (even if this wasn't intentional). It's hilarious that Kevin Smith picked stirring upon this, past that he is a huge comic collection enthusiast who has collaborated past Ben Affleck multiple era in the past and is a defender of his Batman portrayal. Speaking of that portrayal, Ben Affleck is yet Batman at the moment, but it remains to be seen if that holds authenticated in Matt Reeves' Batman film. past the DCEU coming apart at the seams, most likely he could just hop in to Joker to allow the actor one more opportunity past the character.

That said, much of Joker is yet a mystery. beyond the expansive strokes of Arthur Fleck brute a failed comedian living in new York City, we don't truly know much practically the film. And although I think everyone is expecting to see Arthur Fleck adequately transform into a bleached skinned, green haired villain, we don't know if the bank account will statute him coming in to read past who will be his timeless enemy, Batman.

Joker is directed by Todd Phillips and stars Joaquin Phoenix, Marc Maron, Frances Conroy, Robert De Niro and Zazie Beetz.
