In today's forward looking movie-making age, studios obsession bankable franchises. And later than proven brands can be entire sum -- in ways that create desirability -- it has the potential to be a win-win for both the studio, and the moviegoer. There has been a rumor of a Transformers and G.I. Joe team stirring movie for a even if now, and during the Bumblebee press day, we asked John Cena for his thoughts, and learned:
I might have been the one that started that fire. ... I don't look into that any more than a aficionado would be enjoying (it). I just think you have these two storied franchises that, especially because of the way this one was written, damn near rub stirring adjacent to each other. And I think it would be a really cool, in the days of huge franchise universes, to look these things collide and coexist upon the same screen.
John Cena wouldn't go for that reason far afield as to pronounce the notion that the Autobots will be lawsuit alongside the Joes upon the huge screen any era soon, but he for positive wants to look it, eventually. Cena made the most desirability to ask nearly this idea, as he holds by the side of the military side of the equation in Bumblebee. His character, Jack Burns, works for the mysterious Sector 7, which patrols the galaxies. He'd be a very natural bridge amid the Bumblebee world, and that of the G.I. Joe team.
And that means we might look a John Cena and Dwayne Johnson team stirring movie.
The stone was a late supplement to the G.I. Joe franchise, playing Roadblock in the sequel G.I. Joe: Retaliation, to pick stirring the slack from a anodyne franchise launch. That sequel furthermore brought in Bruce Willis, but it didn't bow to off the way that Paramount and Hasbro likely hoped.
There was chat that G.I. Joe 3 would have introduced the Transformers into that world. But that movie never happened, for that reason now we are going the Bumblebee route.
The idea of a Transformers/Joe crossover makes too much desirability not to happen, particularly later than you tap into the fiercely faithful wrestling aficionado base that would feign stirring to hold John Cena and The stone in a combo film. Here's Cena making his auditorium for the team up. He's getting us hella excited:
However, these rumors have been going support for YEARS, and we haven't seen pursuit upon it. The G.I. Joe franchise is dormant, for the era being, and The stone is getting older. He's furthermore full of zip in a half dozen franchises, for that reason making era for still option Joe adventure could be a challenge.
Still, if Bumblebee takes off at the box office, expect these conversations to be had at the rear the scenes. Travis Knight's movie reaches theaters upon December 21. If any news breaks upon a Transformers and G.I. Joe team up, we'll have it here for you, first.
