Just in the manner of in X-Men: The Last Stand more than a decade ago, neighboring year's Dark Phoenix will look the X-Men going stirring neighboring a Jean Grey who loses rule of her psionic abilities and unleashes her Phoenix self on the world. However, she isn't the single-handedly threat in this movie, as Jessica Chastain's profound vibes is moreover lurking in the shadows. There are still a lot of unanswered questions virtually this individual, but according to Chastain, at one lessening during Dark Phoenix, her vibes will be tussling in the manner of every the X-Men at once. Chastain added:
And I'm in reality tough, so it was fun.
Jessica Chastain revealed this intriguing scheme lessening during the Dark Phoenix presentation at CCXP in so Paulo this in the manner of weekend (via Twitter user Lodix). The actress didn't exaggerate on what this particular battle will look like, but at least her comments assure fans that this vibes won't just be sticking to behind-the-scenes manipulation. There will come a grow old in the manner of she'll infatuation to get her hands dirty, and evidently she's powerful plenty to handle a lot of mutants coming at her.
It had before been revealed that Jessica Chastain's Dark Phoenix vibes is an alien shapeshifter who comes to Earth to attempt to shout abuse the corrupted Jean Grey into pretend her bidding, in the manner of director Simon Kinberg describing her as the "devil on Jean's shoulder." greater than that, there hasn't been much in the artifice of specifics around Chastain's character, although Kinberg moreover called her an assimilation of several existing X-Men characters, in the manner of Mastermind, who played an integral role in the timeless Dark Phoenix Saga comic photo album storyline. As Kinberg put it:
I will tell that Jessica's vibes is not Mastermind but there are elements of the artifice Mastermind manipulates Jean that Jessica's vibes does employ. For me, as you'll see, that Jessica's vibes has elements of a few alternating characters from the comics.
Back in the manner of it was first revealed that Jessica Chastain's Dark Phoenix vibes was a shapeshifter hailing from unusual world, it was then rumored that she might be a Skrull, as that race of aliens are in the course of the few characters/properties that 20th Century Fox and Marvel Studios can both use in their respective Marvel movies (although in the manner of Fox is absorbed into the Disney empire, it'll be a assistant professor point). That has still to be officially declared or denied, although in the manner of Captain Marvel introducing its own Skrulls neighboring March, I'm guessing that the shapeshifters in Dark Phoenix, assuming others moreover Chastain's vibes appear, will compliments from a alternating planet.
As we axiom in the Dark Phoenix trailer, Sophie Turner's story of Jean Grey, just in the manner of her comic photo album counterpart and Famke Janssen's story before her, will be a powerhouse more than skilled of leaving death and destruction by herself. Still, it is engaging to listen that there will be a lessening in the movie that Jessica Chastain's vibes will have to battle in the manner of every the X-Men. It's confusing whether Chastain meant the main X-Men team (i.e. Beast, Cyclops, Storm, etc) or if characters in the manner of Magneto are moreover instinctive thrown into the mix.
Either way, it just goes to pretend that in the manner of necessary, Jessica Chastain's vibes can retain her own and tangle in the manner of a bunch of powered people at once. Judging by the scale of this fight, I can't encourage but astonishment if unlike Mystique, Chastain's vibes can use her shapeshifting abilities to replicate a mutant's power, so how she's competent to battle off an entire group. It's moreover a good bet that this battle will endure place during Dark Phoenix's climax as opposed to instinctive an earlier showdown.
The assimilation of Jessica Chastain's vibes is just one of the ways Dark Phoenix is differentiated its adaptation of the The Dark Phoenix Saga from what X-Men: The Last Stand did in 2006. This grow old around, Jean's Phoenix ruining is taking place in the beforehand 1990s, in the manner of in the "First Class" tradition of jumping direct approximately a decade in the manner of each other movie. Jean's tweak will moreover be triggered while the X-Men are on a rescue mission out in space, which is somewhat similar to how Jean's first Phoenix transformation went next to in the comics.
Along in the manner of Jessica Chastain's character, Dark Phoenix is introducing mutants Selene and Red Lotus, played by Kota Eberhardt and Andrew Stehlin, respectively. Daniel Cudmore, who played Colossus in three previous X-Men movies, and Lamar Johnson have moreover been cast in undisclosed roles.
As for aware faces, most of the players from X-Men: Apocalypse will be back, from Professor X and Magneto to Quicksilver and Psylocke. That said, it was rumored last year that one of the characters in Dark Phoenix who's been around the franchise before 2011's X-Men: First Class, will be killed off. That's been seemingly declared from the pictures and footage showing Professor X, Cyclops, Nightcrawler and Storm at a funeral (I suspect it will be Mystique severe the dust). so in addition to the welcome civilian casualties you come to expect from superhero movies, it looks in the manner of someone important will be departing to the good greater than during Jean Grey's rampage.
The progressive of the X-Men franchise greater than Dark Phoenix is shrouded in mystery, although it's received that eventually these characters will eventually be absorbed into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and rebooted for a other era. If that is indeed the case, then Dark Phoenix looks to be ending the current franchise things in the manner of a bang. Jean unleashing her enhanced powers will obviously be a huge part of this, but I am enthusiastic to look what Jessica Chastain's vibes offers in the artifice of sheer instinctive force.
Dark Phoenix was originally supposed to be released on November 2, but it was pushed to February 14, 2019, and now it's set to hit theaters on June 7, 2019, which Simon Kinberg believes is a date that will allow the movie to pretend better globally. Stay tuned to CinemaBlend for continuing coverage. In the meantime, you can look through our X-Men movies guide to learn what other mutant-centric projects are in development, or check out our 2019 pardon schedule to find out what other movies are coming out neighboring year.
