I love rumors, Jason Reitman joked to a crowd of people gathered at a Ghostbusters follower business in Los Angeles upon June 8. The fans were there to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the original Ghostbusters film, and Jason Reitman was flanked by both his father, Ivan, and Paul Feig, who helmed a female-fronted Ghostbusters in 2016.
But largely, the crowd wanted to know details approximately the supplementary Ghostbusters movie that Reitman is planning to pardon in 2020, and upon this day, the writer-director was ready to allowance a few key details. Not all of them, mind you. He was nevertheless grating difficult to guard as many plan details as he could, because he hasnt even started filming the movie yet. But Reitman revealed some of his process, starting behind the fact that the image of a tiny girl behind a proton pack the end going on innate his inspiration for the supplementary story.
Reitman told the crowd at the Ghostbusters follower event:
We wanted to create a love letter to the original movie. And this is a bill that I -- again, I did not expect to be making a supplementary Ghostbusters movie. I thought I was going to be this Indie dude who made Sundance movies. And next this character came to me. She was a 12 year obsolete girl. I didnt know who she was or why she popped into my head, but I proverb her behind a proton pack in her hand. And I wrote this story. This bill began to form exceeding many years actually. It started behind a girl and all of a immediate it was a family. And eventually I knew this movie that I needed to make, that I needed to write.
The 12-year-old girl who started the seed of an idea in the creative mind of Jason Reitman will be played by Mckenna Grace, the young actress who recently played young Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel, and after that acted to the side of Chris Evans in Gifted. The larger intimates that he speaks of will be played by Stranger Things and IT star Finn Wolfhard, and Carrie Coon as the kids mom.
Their hiring has been reported upon by the trades, and Reitman talked at length at the follower business approximately why he hired them for his supplementary picture. Mckenna Grace, in particular, sounds behind she is an immense Ghostbusters fan, and Reitman told a disturbing bill approximately her emotional reply behind he was adept to say Grace that she landed the role.
The rumors that Jason Reitman was referring to had to do behind information shared by original Ghostbusters star Sigourney Weaver, who recently declared how eager she was to compensation to the franchise behind original stars Dan Aykroyd, bill Murray and Ernie Hudson.
Reitman would not acknowledge at the business that the four original actors will compensation he wanted to keep some secrets even if he did acknowledge that each one of them has entry his screenplay, and seemed to be hinting that the four actors would be back.
Jason Reitman after that customary the sham that Paul Feig did behind his female Ghostbusters. even if the director took a lot of heat from so-called fans for his 2016 comedy, Reitman made it certain how long-suffering that movie was toward establishing the supplementary world in which he wants to create and write Ghostbusters stories. Reitman said to Feig:
[I want to] tune gratitude to you for kicking next to the entry upon what a Ghostbuster and who a Ghostbuster can be. You were the first person through the door, and you were the person who allowed me, and [will] allow supplementary people, to next create Ghostbusters movies approximately people of all race, all gender, for people in relation to the world. There are all kinds of Ghostbusters movies that I want to see. Thank you for making that possible.
Back to the movie that he is grating to make. Jason Reitman opened going on a tiny bit more upon the intimates that will be central to his movie. He said that this is not building off of the existing two movies. But there are threads that will connect all of the films. He stated:
Its a supplementary movie. Its truly approximately a supplementary set of characters. It takes area in a supplementary place, a supplementary location. And what I said to you, Paul, and meant, is that what I'm eager for is the possibility of all kinds of Ghostbusters movies. I'm hoping that you guys will partner me upon this one because these characters are amazing, I can't wait to introduce you to them. They are a family. This is what I'll say. You don't know their association [to the original characters]. And they don't know their association yet, either.
The idea of a supplementary location truly intrigues me for Reitmans Ghostbusters movie. next original two movies, as capably as Paul Feigs attempt, truly leaned difficult upon supplementary York City as its setting, but the supernatural exist everywhere. We are approximately to look choice classic Sony property leap away from Manhattan behind Men In Black International opens. Will this updated Ghostbusters follow a same track?
Its pretty unbelievable that, 35 years after the debut of the original movie, we are nevertheless talking approximately supplementary Ghostbusters stories that are making their pretentiousness to theaters. It speaks to the passion of the fanbase, but after that to the loyalties of the bureau that played the team in the first place. Dan Aykroyd has never truth going on upon getting supplementary Ghostbusters movies into theaters. And Hudson, Murray and Weaver all showed going on in Feigs reboot, appropriately the friends remain strong.
Now we wait to look what will come of Jason Reitmans attempt to carry the baton passed from his father, Ivan, to a supplementary generation of fans. We have a teaser billboard to chew on:
But after that, we lonesome have a pardon date upon Sonys movie schedule to circle. The as-yet-untitled Ghostbusters movie will entry in theaters upon July 10, 2020. Are you ready to understand in the possibility of an exciting supplementary Ghostbusters movie again?

The average height of today's Thoroughbred is a little over 16 hands, as opposed to the 14-hand average height of the horses from which the breed originated. But the key word is "average." Because, for every rule as to what the perfect Thoroughbred should look like, there is a champion whose performances disprove it.

In any case, apparently Warner Bros is confident enough in Edge of Tomorrow 2 that it's willing to make public that the sequel is in development. I wonder if the success of Netflix's Russian Doll, a series with a similar Groundhog Day-like premise, helped push the studio to prioritize Edge of Tomorrow 2. Probably not, but it's fun to
