Although the DC outstretched Universe franchise is distressing speak to subsequent to numerous movies, including The Batman, The Suicide Squad and Aquaman 2, one tone whos nevertheless languishing in limbo is Superman. even though he was resurrected in Justice League and looked to have a bright unconventional ahead of him, further than making a neck-down cameo make public in Shazam!, theres been no bustle on Kal-Els cinematic future.
Naturally one quirk he could return is in Man of Steel 2, and at one tapering off Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn was reportedly in talks to helm that sequel. However, Vaughn has now said that the movie is officially no longer happening.
That doesnt bode competently for Henry Cavills unconventional as Superman, as it was reported (but not officially confirmed) last year that he was hanging occurring the red cape. However, Vaughn did have the funds for some details on what his Man of Steel 2 would have looked like, and it borrowed elements from the Superman movie he pitched in 2008.
As Matthew Vaughn explained to Polygon, Matthew Vaughn and comic tape heavyweight Mark Millar came to Warner Bros in 2008 subsequent to an idea for a cinematic Superman credit that would opening a trilogy which would have been, as Millar subsequent to called it, a massive, uplifting, hopeful thing. But Vaughns Superman movie also would have been incredibly substitute than whats arrive before, as it sees Kal-El growing occurring on Krypton.
The first movie of this proposed trilogy would have taken area approaching agreed on Krypton and focused on Jor-El and Kryptons impending destruction. However, these events would have happened unconventional in the timeline, allowing Kal-El to reach adulthood on Krypton, learn virtually Earth there and subsequently have to reckon subsequent to his allegiance to both planets.
Given how Man of Steel began subsequent to the more expected Superman line story, subsequent to Kal-El swine sent off Krypton as an infant and the planet exploding soon after, subsequently obviously a Matthew Vaughn-directed Man of Steel 2 couldnt have been a speak to becoming accustomed of his Superman ring from last decade and nevertheless fit within DCEU continuity. in view of that unless the scheme was for this movie to be set outside that franchise, Im excited virtually what ideas Vaughn would have carried over.
Perhaps Man of Steel 2 would have seen Superman departing Earth and going on an adventure elsewhere in the galaxy, as the DCEU has nevertheless to highly delve into its cosmic roots yet. Henry Cavill had expressed captivation in having Brainiac be Man of Steel 2s main villain, and in the broadminded era, hes usually similar to Kryptons history. That said, perhaps taking that nice of creative open would have resulted in Man of Steel 2 feeling too similar to the Syfy series Krypton.
In any case, Matthew Vaughn directing Man of Steel 2 didnt con out, although hes not opposed to the idea of nevertheless keen in the DC Comics realm, saw itd be difficult to tell no if he was total the opportunity to speak to a further Superman movie. At one tapering off Mission: Impossible - Fallout director Christopher McQuarrie was also in consideration to helm Man of Steel 2, but that also fell through.
So for now, Superman is nevertheless sitting on the proverbial shelf, and competently have to wait and see if Henry Cavill ever gets to con him once again or if a further actor will don the S shield, whether it be in a DCEU-set movie or a standalone story. For now, you can save occurring to date subsequent to what the DCEU has coming all along the pipeline subsequent to our simple guide.
